Battle Star XV September 24 2003 Event was held at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City Review by Mark Graves
Sorie Mansoray (0-1) vs. Eric Salazar (1-1) Sorie won the 1st rd with lots of body punches. Eric did not like taking the body punches. Both fighters were tired mid-way through rd 2. Salazar won via KO when Mansoray went down due to exhaustion 57 seconds into rd 3.
Raul Munoz (12-2) vs. Ricky Repay (0-0) Ricky won the 1st rd due to more work. Raul took control in the 2nd rd and KO'd Repay at 2:59 of the rd. Munoz displayed all the punches: Left-hook, Upper-cut, and Right-cross. The knockout occurred after a Right-hook to the ribs followed by a Left-hook. A final Straight-right finished the deal. Munoz looked really good.
Sarah Snyder (0-0) vs. Becky Sparks (0-0) Sarah KO’d Becky 15 seconds into rd 1 when a punch sent her spinning for a complete 360’ turn before falling in a heap on her knees. Despite Becky’s quick return to her feet, her corner threw in the towel. Becky never quit smiling during the whole ordeal.
Isaiah Henderson (4-1) vs. Donny Davis (5-12) This fight was dominated by Isaiah. Heavy Left-hook in the 1st rd caused an 8 count. 5 Right-hooks to the body followed by a Left-hook visibly hurt Davis but did not knock him down in the 2nd. Another Straight-right hurt Donny in the 3rd w/o a knock-down. All Henderson in the 4th rd as well. 40-35 decision for Henderson. Isaiah’s best punch was his Left-hook. He also showed a good Straight-right. It appeared Henderson wanted to counter-punch but Davis did not throw many punches.
Joe Hetzel (0-1) vs. Nate Zeikle (8-2) Very close fight as the 39-37 decision for Nate showed. It is a hard fight to recap because no one controlled the fight. Nate seemed to work more in the 1st rd. Joe out worked Nate in the 2nd while landed heavy Rights to the body. The 3rd rd was a toss-up and Nate won the 4th rd with a late flurry.
Alvin Brown (20-6) vs. Chuck Dairy (8-10-1) 1st rd to Alvin though not much happened. Chuck was stunned by a Straight-right in the 2nd but did not go down. Dairy stayed up and instinctively punched back. Chuck tried but no power in his punches. Alvin hurt Dairy in the 3rd rd with a Left-hook to the body. A Left Upper-cut punctuated this fight dominated by Brown. The Left Upper-cut not only knocked Dairy down, it caused him to roll over his shoulder. He was obviously hurt but he almost got up before the 10 count. Complete and total domination by Brown.
Vance Winn (6-14-2) vs. Damon Reed (36-7) The best way to sum up this fight is to say Vance did so little work that Damon watched a member of the crowd walk by during a round. Winn’s corner threw in the towel at 1:22 of the 3rd after Reed put Winn down with a punch to the hip. Vance got up ready to fight some more but the corner (same trainer as Becky) decided he had had enough.
