Battle Star XXIII March 23 2005 Event was held at the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Missouri. Michi Munoz (169) vs. Daniel Russell
(176) Michi Munoz (4-0) vs. Daniel Russell (0-1) Munoz disposed of Daniel Russell 1:30 of the 2nd round. Russell only threw arm punches while Munoz displayed the full array of punches. James Thomasee (1-0) vs. Kevin Sheppard (3-3) Thomasee made quick work of Sheppard 1:03 into the 1st round. The ref stopped the fight after the third knockdown. Sheppard was willing to go on but he was out matched. Josh Luteran (2-1) vs. Andy Utterback (1-1) This was probably the best fight of the night as Utterback was able to land counter Over Hand Rights repeatedly. That ended however 0:44 of the 3rd round. Donnie McCrary (8-1-1) vs. David Medina (0-0) It was obvious that Medina had a quality amateur career because he displayed nice skills in the ring but Donnie was simply way better. McCrary overpowered Medina 1:24 into the 2nd round. Jeri Sitzes (6-5-1) vs. Tammy McDonald (0-0) This was painful to watch. Sitzes was so much better than McDonald that I was just glad that Jeri used mainly body punches to finish Tammy off 1:09 of the 2nd round. Damon Reed (39-10) vs. Dennis Matthews (9-26) Despite the fact this fight lasted five rounds, Damon Reed completely dominated Matthews. If it were not for the fact that Matthews head must be made of granite, Damon would have ended the fight much sooner. It actually took a cut to stop the fight because a crowbar could not have done any more damage than Reed was able to. That is not taking anything away from Damon's punches it is saying how hard Dennis' head is. Damon won via TKO as the fight was stopped between the fifth and sixth round due to a cut. Galen Brown (18-2-1) vs. Matt Gockel (9-3) In a game of cat and mouse, Brown toyed with Gockel until the 3rd round where he decided it was time to end the fight. Brown did so at 1:39 of the 3rd round. Article has been accessed
