Beaumont Brawl December 04 2004 Event was held at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City
(Westport), Missouri. Jeremy Stiers vs. Leron Pryor Jeremy Stiers (5-3) vs. Leron Pryor (0-0) Leron threw a bunch of punches until Jeremy caught him with a power Right Hand and that was lights out for Leron. KO victory at 0:35 of the first round. Boxrec.com and the Missouri State Boxing Results both say it was a second round KO but my voice notes say first and I am sure that is what it was. Josh Sosa (4-0) vs. Tony Davis (0-0) Josh earned first round as Tony threw some Jabs but Sosa blocked them all. Sosa was able to chase Davis down and land Left Hooks and Over-Hand Rights to earn the round. Josh waited for Tony to come in. When he did, Josh hit him once. Davis stepped back and on the way back in, Sosa landed a telling Right Upper-Cut that kept Tony down for the count at 0:35 of the second round. Julius Fogle (1-0) vs. Dale Richardson (0-1) It was entertaining while it lasted. Julius was trying to get Dale to throw some punches but Dale new better. So, Fogle moved in and landed a Right Hook to the body that folded Richardson up like a chair. He hopped right up for the eight count and you have to give him credit for that. Julius then walked right up to him, looked him in the eye, and hit him right square in the face through the defense and a follow-up with a Right Upper-Cut for end of story. KO victory at 1:24 of the first round for Julius Fogle. They are going to have a hard time finding someone willing to fight Fogle. I can't wait to see it when someone does have to skills to fight back. Glen Cusimano (1-0) vs. Ron Sullivan (0-1) Glen showed a good stiff Left Jab. It was quick as he did not leave it out there to be countered. They traded punches in the corner at one point with neither fighter gaining an advantage. After stepping back, Cusimano threw a Right Hook that partially made it by the defense. Glen stepped back again and landed a Right Upper-Cut to shut down Sullivan at 1:16 of the first round. It was a full KO not a TKO either. Jesse Shewmaker (1-0) vs. Quenton Simmons (1-3) It was an even match-up while it lasted. Jesse was the aggressor but Simmons did fight back. It was close until Shewmaker connected on a Right Hook to the body. He followed that up with a Left Hook to the head at which point Simmons bent over and turned sideways to protect himself and the ref stepped in to stop the action at 2:35 of the first round for a TKO victory. Galen Brown (16-2-1) vs. Vance Winn (6-16-2) Vance had a decent first round by landing three Right Hands. Unfortunately for Vance, Galen landed a lot more. Galen kept his distance as to not get caught and it allowed him to use his superior hand speed to gather points. Winn started the second round by landing a couple of shots before Galen force Vance into the corner and landed a Over-Hand Right that sent Vance down and he stayed down. That gave Brown a KO victory at 0:43 of the second round. Marcos Ramirez (17-0) vs. Lee Cargle (34-94-1) The first round was controlled by Marcos. However, at some point, Ramirez developed a cut above the left eye. The blood was going down beside the eye luckily because it appeared to be in a bad spot. Cargle is making Marcos work. Marcos is having to find a way to cut off the ring and then get through a tough defense. Once successful, Lee clinches. Ramirez was obviously getting frustrated. Marcos was being successful with Left Hooks to the body under the defense of Cargle. The first two rounds went to Marcos. The third round was all Ramirez as I did not see Lee throw a single meaningful punch. He was pretty much just moving and clinching. It is good work for Marcos because he has to figure out how to fight this kind of fight. Ramirez figured out in the fourth round that Right Hooks and Left Hooks to the body were effective. I also saw Ramirez figure something else out midway through the round. When Lee would move in to clinch, Marcos would take a step back and land a three punch combination. This showed that he could make adjustments during a fight. The body shots also started to bring the hands down to open up the head. The fifth round was the last round because the ref had seen enough of the holding and DQ'd Cargle. The cut never became a problem so the corner did a great job. Roy landed three Straight Right Hands right down main street and Johnson went down but he somehow got up. Both fighters came out punching in the second round but not many landed until Roy landed another Straight Right Hand that was enough to get the ref to stop the fight at 1:01 of the second round for a KO victory for Roy Hughes.
